The Foundation for a Sustainable Society, Inc. (FSSI) has partnered with St. Francis Multipurpose Cooperative (SFMPC), a long-standing cooperative in Malolos City, Bulacan, working to support diverse community sectors through inclusive financial services and enterprise development.
Founded in 1982 to serve bamboo basket makers through credit services, SFMPC has since evolved into a multi-purpose cooperative catering to vendors, teachers, small entrepreneurs, and SMEs engaged in agriculture, manufacturing, services, and trading. In 2013, it expanded operations across the province to respond more effectively to the growing needs of its members.
Beyond credit, SFMPC offers a wide range of services such as catering and events, a consumer store, and enterprise support. One of its most recent initiatives is the St. Francis Eco-Hub Village Housing Project, a low- to mid-cost housing development that showcases sustainable design and eco-bricks made from community-collected waste materials like aluminum wrappers and sachets.
FSSI supports this housing project through its development financing facility, helping provide affordable, resilient housing solutions for members while advancing environmental responsibility and community-driven innovation in Bulacan.
