Progress that Resonates: Advancing Communities through Social Enterprise Financing
.

Dear friends and colleagues,
Through this newsletter, we would like to share with you FSSI’s 2024 Annual Report, along with important updates from our 36th General Assembly held last May 27 and 28, 2025.
The stories we heard, the enterprises we visited, and the conversations we shared during the General Assembly all pointed to one thing: real progress takes time, patience, and the willingness to listen and adjust. This is the work that FSSI is committed to, supporting social enterprises that are not only sustainable, but truly connected to the needs of the people.

Our learning visit to our partners in Nueva Ecija showed us that we understand progress better when we see it on the ground. Cooperatives like CENTER Coop and K5 Multipurpose Cooperative continue to serve their communities with dedication and innovation. These are the kinds of enterprises that help keep livelihoods strong and local economies alive.
In our learning session on women and agriculture, we saw that there are still many challenges, but there are also clear opportunities for us to help. As funders and development partners, we can help close the gaps that women continue to face. Our partners reminded us that applying a gender lens in our work is not just good practice, but a necessary strategy to move forward towards social equity.
We also reported a good year for FSSI. Our financial performance and development portfolio reflect positive results and continue to support our mission of strengthening social enterprises, especially those led by women and focused on agriculture, which now lays a strong foundation for the priorities we have set out in FSSI’s new five-year strategic plan.
As I take on this important role, I would like to thank our outgoing Chairperson, Mr. Elvin Y. Uy, for his dedicated and capable leadership over the past three years. I have worked alongside him as Vice Chairperson and I have seen his steady hand and deep care for FSSI. I hope to build on this and the collective good work of the FSSI community. I would also like to thank Mr. Nestor Banuag Jr. of PHILSSA, who has completed his term as Trustee. His work too has helped shape the direction of FSSI.
Together with FSSI’s Board of Trustees, I hope we can continue to focus on supporting social enterprises that empower women, strengthen agriculture, and build communities. Thank you for your trust and support. Let us move forward, steadily and surely, with a shared purpose.
