Dear FSSI Members, Partners, and Friends,

The first half of 2026 has reminded us that while the challenges facing our communities continue to evolve, so too does our collective capacity to respond. Across the country, social enterprises continue to demonstrate that purpose-driven solutions can create a lasting impact for people, communities, and the environment.

Our 37th General Assembly reflected this through the theme, “What Purpose Makes Possible: Social Enterprises as Solutions in the Context of Change.”

.
During the Learning Session, representatives from government, the private sector, civil society, and our partner social enterprises came together to explore how stronger collaboration can advance Philippine agriculture and fisheries despite the compounding crises that challenge the sector. The discussions reaffirmed an important truth: no single institution can address today’s complex development challenges alone. Building resilient communities requires an ecosystem of support founded on partnerships, shared learning, and collective action.

The General Assembly also provided an opportunity to reflect on our progress during the first year of implementing FSSI’s 2025–2029 Strategic Plan. Despite a rapidly changing operating environment, our commitment to the Triple Bottom Line (3BL) of people, planet, and profit has remained steadfast.

Our 2025 Annual Report highlights this journey, showcasing how financial and development services, strategic partnerships, and capacity building initiatives have enabled social enterprises to strengthen livelihoods, protect the environment, and create opportunities for communities. Also documenting the celebration of our 30th anniversary last year, we are reminded that meaningful and lasting change is made possible through persistence, collaboration, and a shared sense of purpose.

This spirit of partnership continues to grow. We are pleased to welcome the Philippine Family Farmers’ Agriculture Fishery Forestry Cooperatives Federation (AgriCOOPh Federation) as FSSI’s newest member organization. Their dedication to supporting Filipino farmers, fishers, foresters, and cooperatives strengthens our growing network and reinforces our shared vision of sustainable and inclusive rural development.

The year has also reminded us that uncertainty remains part of our work. Economic disruptions, climate risks, and global events continue to affect communities. Yet these realities only strengthen our resolve to invest in social enterprises that offer practical, community-based solutions while balancing social impact, environmental stewardship, and financial sustainability.

As we affirmed during the General Assembly, what we accomplish together in support of these enterprises delivering positive impact – this is what purpose makes possible.

On behalf of the FSSI Board of Trustees, I extend my sincere gratitude to our members, partners, social enterprises, development partners, staff, and all those who continue to journey with FSSI. Let us deepen our partnerships and continue working together to build empowered communities, social justice, the integrity of creation, and fullness of life.
