Leyte South Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LSMPC), New SE Partner

The Foundation for a Sustainable Society, Inc. (FSSI) has partnered with the Leyte South Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LSMPC), a community-based cooperative with over 11,000 members and providing savings, credit, and livelihood assistance support services in Southern Leyte and nearby provinces.

.
Established in 1997, LSMPC has its roots in the modest cooperative venture of the teachers and employees of Pintuyan, Southern Leyte, selling elementary snacks, school supplies, and later small loans to the people. The cooperative has since grown to have eight outlets in Southern Leyte that serve farmers, fisherfolk, micro-entrepreneurs, and employees.

Today, the cooperative provides a wide range of financial services, including loans for business, agriculture, OFWs, and education, as well as savings products like time deposits and retirement savings. It also operates a hotel and restaurant in the Municipality of Liloan, serving as both a business venture and the site of its branch office.

FSSI supports Leyte South MPC through the Poverty Reduction Opportunity thru Micro-finance Enterprise Assistance Loan (PRO-MEAL) project, providing additional capital to expand its credit services. This initiative aims to support more client-members in growing their small businesses and contributing to economic development in the region.
