The Foundation for a Sustainable Society, Inc. (FSSI) continues to support sustainable agriculture and inclusive value chains through its new Value Chain Loan Program, partnering with KAZE Organic Farm based in Natubleng, Buguias, Benguet.
Established in 2013, KAZE Organic Farm builds on a long family tradition of farming in Benguet, an area known for producing a wide variety of leafy, root, and fruiting vegetables. Like many small-scale farmers, KAZE faced challenges in market access and price instability, where income is often dictated by supply and demand. These realities pushed the farm to explore more sustainable and assured market pathways.
In the same year it was established, KAZE Organic Farm partnered with FSSI’s long-time social enterprise partner Livegreen International, where it was introduced to good agricultural practices, smart farming, and innovative techniques. This marked the farm’s transition toward producing safe, high-quality organic produce for consumers.
Through FSSI’s support, KAZE Organic Farm is acquiring a farmland that will serve as a permanent, Organic Certification Center of the Philippines (OCCP)-certified production site. This will enable the development of greenhouses with automatic drip irrigation systems, generate additional employment, and improve overall productivity. The farm also plans to diversify crops and practice crop rotation, including carrots, native and cherry tomatoes, and bell peppers, further strengthening its resilience and revenue potential.
By investing in farmland acquisition and sustainable infrastructure, FSSI helps KAZE Organic Farm grow its operations, improve productivity, and contribute to a more stable and sustainable local food system.
