FSSI, CREST Hold Webinar on Climate Systems for Social Enterprises

22 July 2024 –  In a collaborative effort to promote sustainable business practices and the use of clean energy, the Foundation for a Sustainable Society, Inc. (FSSI) and the Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology (CREST) held a webinar on  the application of climate systems in the workplace and businesses.” The event was attended by around 50 participants from FSSI’s social enterprise partners and staff.

The webinar aimed to equip social enterprises and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with the tools and knowledge to adopt climate-friendly systems in their operations. This is part of FSSI’s commitment to enhance the triple bottom line (3BL) practice of its partners, adopting a framework of achieving profitability while creating social and environmental impact.

Rei Panaligan, President of CREST, led the discussion on how climate systems can be integrated into workplace and business environments. His presentation focused on the practical application of climate strategies, energy-efficient technologies, and environmental systems that can lead to significant cost savings for businesses. Panaligan highlighted the benefits of adopting these systems, such as reducing electricity bills and solid waste management expenses, while also enhancing operational efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to Panaligan’s discussion, Coleen Salamat, a Trustee of CREST, talked about “reuse and plastic-free systems,” offering insights on how businesses can minimize waste and transition to more sustainable practices in their operations.

The webinar highlighted the interconnected nature of climate, energy, and environmental challenges, encouraging social enterprises to implement systems that not only improve their triple bottom line but also contribute to global sustainability efforts. Participants were reminded that integrating climate strategies not only boosts savings but also enhances their brand reputation and business profile.
