About the Award

The FSSI 3BL Social Enterprise Awards is a milestone initiative by the Foundation for a Sustainable Society, Inc. (FSSI) in celebration of its 30th founding anniversary in 2025. These awards recognize FSSI’s partner social enterprises that demonstrate excellence in implementing the Triple Bottom Line (3BL) strategy—empowering People, protecting the Planet, and driving Purposeful Profit.

Since its founding in 1995, FSSI has worked to empower marginalized communities across the Philippines by supporting social enterprises through financial services, technical support, and capacity building. With nearly three decades of experience, FSSI has helped enterprises achieve inclusive growth, social impact, and environmental responsibility while remaining financially sustainable.

What sets the 3BL SE Awards apart is that they are presented by FSSI, a social impact investor with an active partnership with the awardees. These are not one-off recognitions but a celebration of shared journeys, collaboration, and transformation.

Through these awards, FSSI reaffirms its mission to inspire more enterprises to adopt the 3BL approach as a path to building sustainable and equitable communities.

About the Logo

The FSSI 3BL Social Enterprise Awards logo reflects the broader brand identity of FSSI. It represents the organization’s commitment to inclusive growth, environmental sustainability, and economic viability through social entrepreneurship.

At the heart of the logo are three upward strokes symbolizing progress and transformation. These abstract forms evoke a flame, representing social transformation, passion and energy; a leaf, symbolizing growth and environmental care; and the letters F, P, or E — F for FSSI, P for the 3BL of People, Planet, and Profit, and E for Economic, Environment, and Equity, the three pillars of sustainable development.

Together, these elements form a dynamic visual identity that honors the mission of the 3BL SE Awards: celebrating social enterprises that drive holistic, positive change.

FSSI 3BL Social Enterprise Gold Excellence Award

Recognizes the partner social enterprise that has demonstrated the highest level of achievement in aligning with the triple bottom line (3BL) strategy. The awardee has not only met but exceeded the expectations on their 3BL targets, making significant contributions to environmental sustainability, social benefits for marginalized communities, and economic viability.

FSSI 3BL Social Enterprise Silver Excellence Award

Recognizes the partner social enterprise that has shown remarkable strides in aligning its business with the 3BL strategy, demonstrating balance and meaningful results.

FSSI 3BL Social Enterprise Bronze Excellence Award

Recognizes partner social enterprises that have demonstrated notable progress in 3BL implementation and is poised for long-term impact.

FSSI 3BL SE Excellence Special Citation

Awarded to partner social enterprises that have made meaningful contributions toward the advancement of the triple bottom lines (3BL) of People, Planet, and Profit.

The FSSI 3BL Social Enterprise Achievement Award

This award is given to partner social enterprises that have met the minimum requirements of the 3BL criteria —People, Planet, and Profit—and are actively working toward achieving their 3BL targets.

This award affirms their commitment to building a solid foundation for sustainable and inclusive development.

Women’s Empowerment through Social Entrepreneurship Award

The Award recognizes a women-led and/or women-owned social enterprise partner of FSSI that has demonstrated exceptional achievement in adopting gender- inclusive and women empowerment practices. This award celebrates the enterprise’s unwavering commitment to advancing gender equality and empowering women.

The recipient of this award meets the core criteria of being either women-owned or women-led or both, and has shown outstanding performance in one or more of the following gender lenses:

  • Providing products or services that specifically address the needs of women or girls,
  • Actively supporting women within its value chain, or
  • Implementing mechanisms that foster gender inclusion within the organization.

Social Equity and Community Development Award

The Award recognizes a partner social enterprise that excels in creating value for its shareholders, customers, the poor, and its local community. This award celebrates the enterprise’s ability to generate meaningful impact across stakeholders.

The recipient demonstrates strong governance, active shareholder participation, and delivers both social and economic benefits. Additionally, this enterprise has made notable contributions to communities, creating value through impactful programs and initiatives that improve the lives of marginalized groups. Its advocacy and participation in local governance bodies further reflect its commitment to positive community change.

The top achiever in this category exemplifies the true spirit of social entrepreneurship, creating value and driving sustainable impact for both their enterprise and society.

Environmental Sustainability Award

The Award recognizes a partner social enterprise that has demonstrated exceptional achievement in environmental protection and management. This award honors the enterprise’s commitment to sustainable practices that have a significant impact on the conservation of the environment.

The recipient of this award has shown excellence in terms of quality and scale in implementing interventions that result to conservation of the environment in any of the following areas:

  • Adopting environmental management practices, including efforts to reduce solid waste, air pollution, water use, and hazardous waste,
  • Conservation of natural resources, including the protection of endangered species,
  • Promotion of organic food production, or
  • Utilizing renewable energy solutions to minimize environmental impact.

The top achiever in this category exemplifies the power of social entrepreneurship in driving sustainability and protecting the environment for future generations.
