FSSI holds Social Enterprise Governance and Leadership Training

Quezon City, 25 June 2024 – The Foundation for a Sustainable Society Inc. (FSSI) held a training on social enterprise governance and leadership on June 24 to 25, 2024 at the Ardenhills Suites in Quezon City. The training, attended by 30 representatives from FSSI’s social enterprise (SE) partners, aimed to empower board members, proprietors, partners, and management committee members of SEs to enhance their effectiveness in governing and managing their organizations.

The training was supported by FSSI’s partnership with Investing in Women (IW), a 10-year initiative supported by the Australian Government, which aims to assist women-owned or led social enterprises (WSEs) in scaling up their operations and directly contribute to increase women’s participation as entrepreneurs and employees. The program seeks to help create an enabling environment to promote women’s economic empowerment.

Since partnering with IW in 2020, FSSI has applied a gender lens investing (GLI) strategy to its social enterprise investments. Read more about FSSI’s GLI journey here.

The training was facilitated by resource speakers Ms. Regi Gaza and Ms. French Vibar. Ms. Gaza discussed capacity needs assessment and organizational development for community enterprises. Meanwhile, Ms. Vibar talked about enterprise leadership and governance.

The facilitators also conducted sessions on various topics including understanding organizational by-laws, planning, budgeting and recordkeeping, delegating responsibilities as part of good governance, as well as planning, and applying the learning and realizations to oneself, the enterprise, the community, and the government.

Participants engaged in various exercises and activities including group discussions and sharing of reflections and best practices during the training.

The activity was spearheaded by FSSI’s Partnership Unit. We thank our social enterprise partners for joining the two-day training.
