Kape’t Kwentuhan ng Kababaihan, a WE Forum by WAND

In celebration of Women’s Month, WAND Women Organization, Inc. hosted the WAND Women Empowerment (WE) Forum – Kape’t Kwentuhan ng mga Kababaihan via Zoom on March 22, 2024. This virtual event provided a platform for inspiring “herstories” from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, shared over a cup of coffee.

The forum featured three storytellers, each bringing unique perspectives and experiences from their respective regions. Ms. Jeanira Okubo, a representative from the PILIPINA Baguio-Benguet Chapter, discussed the “KAKAGEM: Young Parents Peer Support Program of La Trinidad, Benguet,” highlighting initiatives to support young parents in the community. Ms. Paulina Nayra, CEO of Women Enablers Advocates and Volunteers for Empowering and Responsive Solutions, Inc. (WEAVERS), shared insights on “PROJECT EDEN: Empowering Women as Nurturers and Protectors of Leyte Sab-a Peatland Forest,” focusing on women’s roles in environmental conservation. Lastly, Ms. Flora Villa Atamosa, a representative from Center for Social Concerns and Development (CESCOD), presented “MADII: Organizing a Group of Volunteers and Experts to End VAWC in Zamboanga Del Norte,” which aimed at combating violence against women and children.

The WAND WE Forum exemplified the power of storytelling in empowering women and fostering community solidarity. It served as a testament to the resilience and leadership of women across the Philippines, highlighting their contributions to social and environmental causes. Through events like these, WAND continues to champion women’s empowerment and gender equality.
