FSSI, partners, join Senate SE trade Fair

Pasay City, 11 March 2024 — The Foundation for a Sustainable Society Inc. (FSSI) joined the Social Enterprise Trade Fair at the Senate of the Philippines, coinciding with the celebration of Women’s Month. The trade fair, held on March 11, 2024, served as a platform to spotlight women-owned and -led and other social enterprises. It also supports the  advocacy efforts of the Poverty Reduction Through Social Entrepreneurship (PRESENT) Coalition.

The collaborative effort featured contributions from the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, the Senate Gender and Development Focal Point System, the Office of Senator Risa Hontiveros, the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia (ISEA), Roots Collective, The Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Australia in the Philippines, and Oxfam Pilipinas.

Senator Risa Hontiveros, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, graced the event, emphasizing the vital role of women in driving social enterprise initiatives. She was joined by Her Excellency HK Yu PSM, FCPA (Aust), Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary for the MSME Development Group, Ma. Cristina Roque.

Social enterprise partners of FSSI, WeGen Laudato Si’ , Bote Central, and Coffee for Peace, showcased their products and services at the event.

The trade fair also aimed to amplify the PRESENT Coalition’s advocacy, focusing on the enactment of the PRESENT Bill in the 19th Congress. This bill seeks to institutionalize support for social enterprises as a crucial strategy for poverty reduction.

FSSI is an active member of the PRESENT Coalition.
