The Kilusang Lima para sa Lahat Multi-Purpose Cooperative (K5 COOP) celebrated the inauguration and blessing of its Peaks and Waves Bed and Breakfast located in Brgy. Aplaya, Dingalan, Aurora on September 18, 2023.
Representatives from the Foundation for a Sustainable Society Inc. (FSSI) joined the activity, which was attended by around 40 partners, members, staff, and stakeholders including representatives from the local government.
K5 COOP, a social enterprise predominantly owned and led by women, is one of the investees under FSSI’s Investing in Women (IW) project. IW is an initiative of the Australian Government that seeks to support women-owned and -led social enterprises (WSEs) through financial services and technical assistance.
Initially engaged in microfinance, K5 COOP has since grown and diversified its operations. Today, they are involved in various businesses, including credit, agricultural production, trading, marketing, and rentals. Their influence extends across the regions of Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Northern Samar, and Metro Manila.
Peaks and Waves is the cooperative’s first venture in tourism and hospitality. The transient house is proudly owned by the cooperative composed of local farmers, workers, and small entrepreneurs. Beyond providing a comfortable stay and scenic view, Peaks and Waves is dedicated to environmental protection, job creation, and contributing to the development of the local economy in Dingalan.
