FSSI and gender lens investing

Quezon City, Philippines, 5 August 2022 – The Foundation for a Sustainable Society Inc. (FSSI) shares its experience in gender lens investing (GLI) in a case study done by Value for Women (VfW).

FSSI and gender lens investing

FSSI pursued GLI to further expand its social impact. The foundation strives to advance inclusion, particularly in providing social investments for the marginalized sectors. Gender sensitivity and equality is a key component in the social objective of the triple bottom lines (3BL) which the Foundation promotes among its partner social enterprises (SEs).

Investing with a gender lens and improving women’s access to financing will help drive inclusive growth especially in the context of pandemic recovery. In 2020, FSSI partnered with Investing in Women (IW), an initiative of the Australian government that catalyzes inclusive economic growth through women’s economic empowerment in Southeast Asia. FSSI’s IW program supported the development and scaling up of women-owned and -led social enterprises (WSEs) through financial support and capacity building.

FSSI’s investment in WSEs is complemented by the development of the Foundation’s gender strategy and the forming a gender committee to drive sustained efforts in observing gender-forward practices within the organization.

Value for Women is a specialized advisory firm that helps organizations advance gender inclusion. The firm provides technical assistance to FSSI as part of its partnership with IW. The case study on FSSI’s GLI journey is available on their website. It can be accessed through this link.
